The Company:
ER Recruitment are excited to be working with our client who are a well-established manufacturing business with a strong reputation for quality, innovation, and sustainability. Operating across global supply chains, they are known for their continuous investment in people, process improvement, and responsible sourcing. As they continue to expand, they are now looking to appoint a commercially astute Senior Buyer to drive strategic procurement across their direct commodities category.

Role & Responsibilities of the Senior Buyer:
  • Develop and manage buying strategies for direct materials.
  • Build strong relationships with key suppliers and identify new sourcing opportunities.
  • Track market trends to make smart, cost-effective purchasing decisions.
  • Lead tender and quotation processes, making sure documentation is clear and complete.
  • Negotiate supplier agreements to get the best value and service.
  • Support internal teams by providing expert buying advice and commercial input.
  • Tackle supply issues quickly to keep quality, pricing, and delivery on track.
  • Monitor supplier performance and track savings through reports and KPIs.
  • Stay up to date on industry developments and use insights to drive improvements.
  • Support the wider purchasing team and step in for the Purchasing Manager when needed.
  • Contribute to sustainability goals by promoting responsible sourcing.

About You as the Senior Buyer:
  • 3–5 years’ experience in a comparable buying or procurement environment.
  • Skilled in supplier negotiation, commercial evaluation, and contract management.
  • Adept at building and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; ERP and procurement system experience desirable (training provided if needed).
  • Strong communication, influencing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent numerical and written accuracy with an eye for detail.
  • A collaborative team player who is proactive, analytical, and driven to deliver.
  • Qualified to degree level or working toward CIPS (or willing to pursue).
  • Full UK driving licence and open to occasional UK and international travel.
